The British Virgin Islands Football Association (BVIFA) is the official governing body for football in the British Virgin Islands. Established in 1973, the BVIFA has played a pivotal role in developing and promoting the sport across the territory. As a full member of FIFA and CONCACAF since 1974, we are committed to upholding the highest standards of excellence in football governance and fostering the growth of the game at every level.
Football in the British Virgin Islands has a rich history, dating back to informal matches in the mid-20th century between British Royal Navy crew and expatriates. In 1968, the first British Virgin Islands team was formed by Royal Engineers working on infrastructure projects, paving the way for the establishment of the BVIFA. Since then, we have grown into a respected institution that oversees all aspects of football development and competition within the territory.
The BVIFA is responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of leagues and tournaments, including the BVIFA National Football League, FA Women’s League, FA National Youth Leagues, FA Futsal League, FA Festival Cup, and FA Big Four. These competitions serve as vital platforms for talent development and community engagement, reflecting our unwavering commitment to the sport’s advancement.
Our mission extends beyond the pitch. We are dedicated to nurturing talent through grassroots programs, youth development initiatives, and school leagues, ensuring that the future of football in the British Virgin Islands remains strong. The BVIFA is also proud to support the British Virgin Islands National Football Team, which has represented the territory on regional and international stages, including notable achievements such as winning the Leeward Islands Championship in 1986.
With a focus on sustainability, inclusivity, and excellence, the BVIFA remains at the forefront of football development in the British Virgin Islands. We are proud to lead the charge in shaping the future of the sport, fostering community spirit, and representing the territory with distinction on the global stage.
